Understanding the benefits of knowing how to write good ad copy is only the first step. Going through the process of actually going about how to learn copywriting is another.
So I wanted to put a mini copywriting course so you can have a place to start. This is just going to touch the surface of how to create an amazing sales letter that will sell your product like hotcakes.
There are 12 points to a great sales letter, and every single letter must contain each of these points if you want it to do it’s job, and do it good.
- Pre – head – this is the very first line at the top of the page, and it will usually begin with some sort of stop word. Example: ATTENTION or WARNING.
- Headline – This is one of the most important parts, and it will take the longest to do. You want to offer them the solution to their problem in the headline. So they become sucked into the copy.
- Subhead – this is a mini headline or a follow up of the headline.
- Opening – the easiest thing here is to open up with a question. This question will generally be leaving them saying Yes, I do.
- A Story – every good sales letter will have a story in it, this is because it capture’s the readers attention and they want to know what happened, How did Bob solve his problem. And this will make them continue reading so they can find out.
- Bullets – This is the other long section. Each bullet will need to leave them wondering, and it will intrigue their curiosity. There is no limit to the amount of bullets you should use in any sales letter, use as many as you feel necessary.
- Credibility – Who the hell are you, and why should I buy what you are selling. This is what will be going through their head, so tell them the reason.
- Testimonials – testimonials need to be real, do not make them up. There are many available techniques you can use to quickly collect testimonials for your product.
- The Offer – this is your product, and it is going to be the answer to their problem.
- Guarantee – you’ve seen these are nearly every web site you visit. 90-days or your money back. And some of them probably even pushed you to make the sale.
- Call to Action, also known as the Close – This is how they are going to order. “Order Right Now before the Price Goes Up”
- PS – you may think that this is not important, but it is. This will give your prospect another chance to understand what they are getting and what they would be missing if they don’t purchase your product.
Every single sentence of a sales letter is meant to make them read the next. Your goal is to keep your readers attention long enough that they reach the bottom of the page and click the “Buy Now Button”. You want that sale, so you need to be sure that you put your words to work for you.
As you can see there are many different things that go into crafting a perfectly worded sales letter, and it’s important that you plan your letter before you begin writing it. There is a lot of research that goes into the market before you even begin writing the copy.
You can find many available copywriting courses that are available online, and they will go into much more detail regarding each of these 12 points.
